Mindfulness seams to be the one health trend, that never gets lost amongst all the other fads. Why, because it actually works.
So how do we obtain this intangible trend that seams to be the topic of every conversation? Kat investigates…
Mindfulness is the human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we are doing, to calmly acknowledge and accept ones feelings, thoughts and sensations. To be mindful allows us to separate ourselves from our reactions, so we are able to clearly assess a situation before (regretfully) responding.
There are lots of ways to develop and improve your mindfulness, one way, is through meditation. But instead of delving into a void or possibilities and tactics…we decided to reach out to the very lovely Angela Simson from The Gratitude Project for some gentle advice for living a happy and mindful life.
What are your 3 key tips for living a mindful, positive life
My three tips would be - live mindfully in the present moment, be mindful of your thoughts, feelings and actions and make plans for yourself that correlate with the life you want to be living!
How do you promote love and warmth within your home
With fun! We definitely have lots of fun in our home, we respect each other, we speak to the girls like grown ups and share with them when we feel we've spoken or acted out of line so they know how to take responsibility for their actions.
How do you show gratitude to yourself
By scheduling in self love time! Every day, either yoga, a warm bath, cooking, walking outdoors or getting a massage, I do something just for me every day!
Mindfulness can be as simple or as complicated as you wish but take it from Angela, living a mindful life doesn't need to be challenging. You don’t need to invent your own mantra or attend 101 wellness retreats. It’s as simple as lighting a candle and allowing yourself time to reflect on the things that bring you joy.
