On the morning of her big day, D’Arcy and her beautiful bridesmaids got ready in matching KTL sleepwear.
We caught up with her to chat all things wedding, from the proposal to the unforgettable moments of the day.
Being a Music Artist I wanted some theatre and drama in the ceremony. I wanted the guests to feel like they were watching something panning out with surprises along the way. I curated a number of songs to transition into the other and each song was for a different moment.
We wanted some non traditional moments. I wanted the wedding to feel boujee but with country air and a European flair. Cafe au lait dahlias as the theme flower with a subtle black and gold colour scheme.
Something New & Old?
My Veil was new, and during the reception I wore my grandmothers blue fox fur coat.
Favourite KTL style?
The Amelie Corset Set in Ivory. It was my wedding day lingerie!
Wedding Morning Non-negotiables?
Facials, LOTS of coffee, some quiet time, champagne, adequate music, photos last, some fruit or toast ...and laughter!
The most memorable moment?
I had a really simple but lovely moment with Ryan - we sat in the seats we’d had dinner in and just watched everything from afar. It felt magical!
The proposal was in Sydney at Bar 83 on our 3rd anniversary. Ryan had said something like ‘oh hilarious how your parents want us to get married at the your family house (Brolga Hill Estate), what do you think about that?'
I laughed and said yes but it’s all hypothetical etc and he said ‘But what if it wasn’t? Then casually placed the ring on the table. I had a 30 second panic and turned away only to turn back and say ‘well duh’!
Ryan and I met at a cafe in Elwood called Plain Sailing. I was living around the corner and he was one of the baristas. We glanced and chatted for a year before actually setting a date up. Before we could actually do the date though his lung collapsed but I had no idea and thought he’s ghosted. He messaged later to let me know after I’d let him have it..
Brolga Hill is my childhood family home so I wanted to use the whole of the property. We did the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and after party all in different areas. Each part with a different garden vibe, and because we had the garden we had minimal decorations.
The only area we did a little extra was in the back of the cottage where my parents live on the property, which was the party area. We added a Moroccan style tent with vintage aristocratic furniture. We did the same decorating for the dining area but it was open and allowed a more rustic country feel. It was in a spot where you could watch the sun set as you ate. I had Italian old school music playing during.
Love, D'Arcy Spiller
