The Encoreship is a ground-breaking initiative powered by a brand collective providing employment opportunities for women+ who have been out of the workforce for an extended period and are ready to return, or are looking for a career change. It is an opportunity to upskill, build confidence and gain valuable and practical experience.
Kat the Label is proud to be partnering with The Encoreship for a 3-month placement that will offer hands-on, cross-functional experience across various business departments. This is a fixed-term opportunity from early October 2025 to January 2026.
This role is designed for someone eager to gain broad insight into the inner workings of a fast-growing fashion business. It will provide exposure to sales, retail operations, wholesale, marketing, and growth strategy. You'll work closely with key team members to support the upcoming launch of our new retail store, contribute to wholesale and new market entry strategies, and assist with operational planning and efficiencies.
We are looking for a self-starter - someone excited to bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the team, while learning and growing within a supportive environment.
We understand each Encorer may have different flexibility/life requirements while reintegrating back into the workforce. This role will be part-time (minimum 3 days per week) working from our Head Office in Cremorne, Warehouse in Cheltenham and Retail in Armadale.

How will you contribute?
Support operational planning for Kat the Label’s new store opening – assisting in retail processes, training documentation, local area marketing, and store efficiencies
Assist the sales team in evaluating wholesale strategies, processes, and growth opportunities
Conduct research and support strategic planning for entering new markets and growing brand presence
Work cross-functionally between departments to gain a holistic understanding of the business and contribute to projects
Contribute fresh ideas and assist with marketing and brand growth initiatives
Measurement
Timely completion of assigned tasks and readiness for October store launch
Demonstrated contribution to strategy and documentation
Insights and actionable strategies shared with the leadership team
Positive feedback from team leads; ability to support across departments
Engagement in team meetings and active idea contribution

About Kat the Label
Kat the Label is a lingerie and sleepwear brand designed to elevate your every day, with a cult following both locally and internationally. This role is part of The Encoreship program. The Encoreship is a return-to-work program for people who identify as women and have been away from the workforce 1+ year/s, facing challenges of re-entering. Candidates that meet the criteria of the program will be most favourably considered.
We are a female-founded and led team based in Melbourne, VIC, looking for an experienced Retail Store Manager to join us during an exciting growth phase. With the opening of our flagship store in Armadale, we are seeking a sales-driven and career-focused individual who is passionate about retail, team development and delivering an exceptional customer experience.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong retail expertise, a proven sales background, and a love for building and motivating high-performing teams. This role is based on-site at our Armadale flagship store, Tuesday to Saturday. Opening in October.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the successful opening and ongoing management of Kat the Label’s new Armadale flagship store.
Drive sales performance by setting, forecasting, and achieving budgets and targets.
Building community and fostering loyalty.
Train, develop, and motivate your team to deliver exceptional service and results.
Oversee daily store operations, rosters, and staffing budgets to ensure efficiency.
Support brand marketing initiatives including local area marketing, influencer hosting, content creation, and in-store events.
Manage store visual merchandising with support from Head Office.
Manage bridal suite bookings and ensure a seamless, elevated customer experience.
Implement and maintain strong operational processes to support retail excellence.
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in retail management or senior retail sales.
Proven ability to drive sales and achieve targets.
Strong leadership skills with a passion for training and motivating teams.
Highly organised with strong operational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
Availability to work on-site Tuesday through Saturday.
